GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The future of the Green Bay women's soccer program looks bright as
four incoming Phoenix freshmen received All-State honors from the Wisconsin
Soccer Coaches Association, the WSCA announced Thursday. Midfielder Hannah
Kernen (Belleville, Wis.) was selected as the Wisconsin Player of the Year,
while goalkeeper Katy Pilarzyk (Madison, Wis.) and defender Abby
Juzwik (Madison, Wis.) were each first team picks. Green Bay Preble
standout Sierra Valentine also received an honorable mention.
"The four incoming freshmen
that have been honored show the quality of players that are now part of our
program," Phoenix head coach Trevor Warren said. "Combine them with our
talented retuning players and a very talented freshmen class and it will be a
very exciting future for the program. My congratulations go out to Hannah,
Abby, Katy and Sierra for their outstanding high school careers."
Kernen
finished her Belleville High School career with 130 goals and 45 assists,
including 37 goals and 17 assists in her senior campaign. She was also selected
as the Capitol Conference Player of the Year in each of her four seasons.
Pilarzyk
posted 11 shutouts in her senior season at Madison Memorial, helping her win her second goalkeeper of the year award, while Juzwik
tallied 10 goals and eight assists as a defender for Verona High School.
Kernen, Pilarzyk, Juzwik and Valentine are part
of a 12-member freshman class that also includes

Chandra Eigenberger (Green Bay, Wis.),
Emily Friedl (Kenosha, Wis.),
Jenna Harrington (Madison, Wis.),
Alisha Maciejewski (Neenah, Wis.), Alex
Ronchak (Arden Hills, Minn.), Kimberky Seddon (Ashton Under Lyne, England) and
Leah Seib (Waukesha, Wis.).
