AKRON, Ohio – On Sunday afternoon, the Green Bay women's soccer team fell to Akron 2-0 on the road at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Zips scored both of their goals in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Each team had its share of chances in the first, with Akron slightly outshooting Green Bay 4-3 in the half. However, neither team capitalized on those chances and entered the halftime break in a scoreless tie.
Akron broke the tie shortly into the second half when Emma King scored a 49th-minute penalty kick goal. That lead was later doubled in the 71st minute when Olivia Pilato put home a deflection, making it 2-0.
GAME NOTES
- Hannah Williams started in goal for GB, racking up two saves on 10 Akron shots.
- Akron outshot Green Bay 10-7.
- Defender Elle Blessinger threatened Akron's goal, putting two shots on frame.
COMING UP
