GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay men's basketball sophomore Daniel Turner (McCordsville, Ind.) will miss the rest of the 2011-12 season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday's game at Valparaiso. The team captain is expected to make a full recovery and be back for the 2012-13 season.

"We are all disappointed for Daniel and this will be a tough loss for our program," said head coach Brian Wardle. "I know Daniel will put the same hard-working attitude into his rehab that he has brought to the court and come back strong next season."

Turner had started nine of 14 games in 2011-12 and 35 games in his two-year career. This season, the sophomore was averaging 4.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He was in the midst of his best offensive game of the season at Valparaiso, scoring a season-high 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting.

"Daniel's productivity, toughness and leadership will be a challenge to replace, but we have a deep, young team and capable players that can rise to the challenge," said Wardle. "He was averaging over 20 minutes a game so his absence will provide an opportunity for others on our team to step up and increase their roles."

Green Bay (6-8, 2-2 HL) returns to action on Saturday, playing at Milwaukee (10-5, 3-1 HL) at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports32.
