GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - A total of 75 UW-Green Bay student-athletes were honored as members of the Horizon League's Spring 2012 Academic Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday.

Candidates for the Horizon League Honor Roll must meet three criteria in order to qualify: 1) participation in at least one of the League's 19 sports during the most recent (or current) season; 2) completion of three semesters (or four quarters, where applicable) as a full-time student at the same member institution; and 3) a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale).

A total of 743 student-athletes from all Horizon League institutions and all 19 league sports were included on the list. Green Bay, which participates in 14 of the 19 sports, had the fifth-highest total in the league behind Butler's 98, Valparaiso's 90, Milwaukee's 81 and Youngstown State's 77.

Women's swimming and diving led the way for Green Bay with 10 honorees, while volleyball placed nine on the honor roll. Soccer and swimming and diving were the top men's squads, with each team placing five on the list, respectively.

The spring of 2012 was arguably the most successful academic semester in school history, as Phoenix student-athletes posted a record-high 3.27 cumulative GPA, marking the department's 25th-straight semester with at least a 3.0.
