EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - After having the weather patterns of Hurricane Isaac affect its schedule last weekend at the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament, the Green Bay (1-3-0) women's soccer team battled remnants of Isaac on Friday night as it picked up its first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Northern Iowa following a two-hour weather delay. The game was the first contest of the SIU Edwardsville Tournament.

"This was a well-deserved first win on a rain-soaked night," said head coach Trevor Warren. "We were the better team during the run of play and had to deal with UNI's dangerous set plays. It was a great goal to win the game and I'm proud of our team's performance."

The lone goal of the contest came in the 76th minute when junior Ahna Logan (Roseville, Minn.) found senior Megan Braatz (Waukesha, Wis.) on a cross pass from the left side for the 1-0 lead.

Green Bay outshot Northern Iowa 8-5 in the contest with Logan and sophomore Chandra Eigenberger (Green Bay, Wis.) leading the way with two shots each, both coming in the first half of play.

Four other Phoenix players, including Sydney Born (Edina, Minn.) Emily Friedl (Kenosha, Wis.) Elise Olson (Madison, Wis.) and Braatz also each added a shot for the Phoenix in the contest.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katy Pilarzyk (Madison, Wis.) made three saves for Green Bay in the net as it also had three cornerkicks in the game.

Green Bay wraps up its competition in the tournament against UM-Kansas City on Sunday at 12 p.m.
