MADISON, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – A young Green Bay men's soccer squad showed its strength against an experienced Wisconsin Badgers team on Saturday, as the Phoenix fell in a closely contested battle, 1-0, at McClimon Complex.

Green Bay held Wisconsin scoreless until the 70th minute, when Skyler Felt found the back of the net off an assist by Trevor Wheeler in what proved to be the game winner.

The match saw both teams put nine shots on the scoreboard, while the Badgers held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Sam Krenzien (Wauwatosa, Wis.) and Audi Jepson (Green Bay, Wis.) led the Phoenix with three shots apiece.

Kyle Ihn (Wales, Wis.) and Dary DeWalt (Milwaukee, Wis.) shared time in net. Ihn played the first 66:43 and recorded one save, while DeWalt was in net for the final 23:17, allowing one goal with one save.

With the exhibition season behind them, the Phoenix will look forward to their season opener on Friday at DePaul. The match is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
