GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Seeing its two-game winning streak come to an end, the Green Bay women's soccer team fell in a 2-0 match at Cleveland State on Saturday afternoon at Krenzler Field in Horizon League play. The Phoenix moves to 8-4-2 overall and 2-2-0 in Horizon League action.
Cleveland State (7-6-2, 2-2-1 HL) was able to game's first gaol in the 9th minute, thanks to a header by Allie Sieradzki. After the Viking goal, the two teams were both kept off the scoreboard for nearly the next 80 minutes.
The Vikings would thwart any comeback from the Phoenix when they scored the second goal of the game late in the 88th minute, following a quick throw in that led to quality finish over the head of Katy Pilarzyk (Madison, Wis.).
Green Bay did put three shots on goal in the contest, as Cleveland State only put five but capitalized on two of those shots. Both teams took three corners a piece.
Green Bay will now return home for three of its final four contests beginning with Detroit next Saturday, Oct. 18. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Santaga Stadium.
