GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Dropping its second-straight 3-0 decision, the Green Bay men's soccer team lost at home to UIC at a wet and soggy Santaga Stadium on Wednesday night. Green Bay falls to 3-7-3 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play while UIC moves to 6-4-2 and 2-1-1 in Horizon League action.
The Phoenix has now been shutout in four straight games after putting up goals in high volume early in the season, and has been outscored 9-0 during that stretch following the defeat on Wednesday. Green Bay couldn't overcome the rainy and wet field conditions under the lights against a talented UIC squad and will hope to quickly move on to Saturday's game at home against Wright State.
The two teams did play a fairly even first 45 minutes, before entering halftime in a scoreless 0-0 draw. UIC would go on to dominate the second half, scoring goals in the 56th minute, 63rd minute and 88th minute. Two of the three goals were scored by Jose Fuentes, with the other being scored by Jesus Torres.
Green Bay put four shots on goal, while UIC put 10 shots on frame. The Flames also took 11 corner kicks to four for the Phoenix.
Green Bay will return home on Saturday, Oct. 18, when it welcomes Wright State to Santaga Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m. under the lights.
