GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Earning a much-needed win on the road, the Green Bay men's soccer team bounced back with a 2-1 victory at Eastern Illinois on Tuesday afternoon at Lakeside Field. The Phoenix improved to 4-8-3 overall and EIU falls to 2-10-1.
Green Bay scored its first of two goals in the 16th minute, when Jordan Dover (Ajax, Ontario) put home his third goal of the year. Dover scored on a pretty feed from Lawrence Talery (Coon Rapids, Minn.) right in front of goal, which became Green Bay's first goal since Oct. 1 against Milwaukee.
The host Panthers would tie the match at 1-1 in the 31st minute, before Faycal Oulahbib (Chelles, France) would score the game-winner with a beautiful run in front of goal and an even better pass from Trey Benhart (Lakeville, Minn.). Oulahbib struck one perfectly into the back of the net, sending the Phoenix into a frenzy on the field.
Both teams put six shots on goal and both teams finished with 17 shots total.
Goalkeeper Kyle Ihn (Wales, Wis.) picked up his second win of the season in goal, finishing with five saves between the posts.
The victory snaps a five-game losing streak for the Phoenix and marks the team's first win since Sept. 12 versus Viterbo.
Green Bay will get back into Horizon League action this Saturday (Oct. 25) when it travels to Nashville, Tenn. The Phoenix will face Belmont at 2 p.m.
