FORT WAYNE, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women's golf team shaved 10 strokes off its score from round one to round two, finishing in tenth place at the IPFW Invitational on Monday at Chestnut Hills Golf Club. Each posting a round in the 70s, sophomore Steph Laude (Slinger, Wis.) and freshman Avery Steen (Luck, Wis.) finished in a tie for 28th place.
The Phoenix finished the 36-hole event at 656 with rounds of 333 on Sunday and 323 on Monday. Indianapolis won the tournament while Youngstown State's Allizon Mitzel was the individual medalist.
Laude opened with a 78 on Sunday before carding an 82 on Monday, while Steen followed her 81 in round one with a 79 on Monday.
Sophomores Katie Pokrandt (Eau Claire, Wis.) and Lexi Wilson (Marinette, Wis.) and senior Molly Fassbinder (Hudson, Wis.) each posted rounds of 87 on Sunday before coming back with improved scores on Monday. Pokrandt carded an 80 in round two while Wilson shot an 82 and Fassbinder shot an 85.
Green Bay returns to the course this weekend, playing a dual meet against Valparaiso.
