GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – For the second-straight game the Green Bay women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw, this time finishing in a tie at Eastern Illinois on Sunday afternoon at Lakeside Field.
Eastern Illinois (0-6-1) struck first in the 24th minute to take a 1-0 lead, a score that would remain the same until the 67th minute when Green Bay tied the game up. Heidi Hartmann (Plymouth, Minn.) would score her team and league-leading seventh goal of the season, thanks to a pretty pass from freshman Leah Nitardy (Stillwater, Minn.) that would prove to be the final score of the game.
Hartmann has now scored in five of her team's eight games this season after scoring only two goals the entire 2013 season. She has now tallied 14 points this season.
The assist for Nitardy gives the freshman her first collegiate point of her career, notching assist number one on the season.
The Phoenix (4-2-2) did manage to put 11 shots on goal in the contest, but could only find the back of the net once. Green Bay also took nine corner kicks to EIU's two.
Green Bay will continue its five-game road trip on Thursday (Sept. 18) when they visit Northern Illinois. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
