Hartmann's Two Goals Help Crush NIU, Juzwik Ties Record

By: Joey Daniels (@GBJoeyD)

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Scoring three or more goals for the fifth time this season, the Green Bay women's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory on the road Thursday night, improving its record to 5-2-2 on the season.

Heidi Hartmann (Plymouth, Minn.) continued her stellar season by scoring her team and Horizon League leading eighth and ninth goals of the season. Hartmann headed one into the back of the net in the 28th minute, giving Green Bay the only goal it would need in the game, after Abby Juzwik (Madison, Wis.) sent a perfect pass off the corner kick into the box.

The junior struck again in the in the 72nd minute, again finishing on a masterful header off the foot of Juzwik. The goals were almost identical and put the game well out of reach.

Freshman Leah Nitardy (Stillwater, Minn.) scored the second goal of the game, recording her first collegiate goal in the process. NItardy tallied the goal early in the second half, scoring in the 55th minute on an assist from Chandra Eigenberger (Green Bay, Wis.) after she sent one into the box and to the foot of Nitardy.

The 63rd minute saw senior Hannah Kernen (Belleville, Wis.) give the Phoenix a 3-0 lead, while Juzwik added her second of three assists in the game. The three assists in a game by Juzwik ties the school record, as her name will now be entered into the Green Bay record book.

The Phoenix scored three of its four goals on set pieces.

While the offense was on fire, the defense was equally as tough, with Green Bay goalkeeper Nastacia Behle (St. Paul, Mo.) needing to make just one save in the game while recording the clean sheet.

Green Bay will look to make it four-straight undefeated games when it takes on Western Illinois on the road this Sunday (Sept. 21). First kick will be at noon.
