HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's soccer team traveled to Highland Heights, Ky., this afternoon to continue league play with Horizon League newcomer Northern Kentucky. Green Bay (4-8-3, 2-3-2) fell behind early in the contest but tied things up in the 53rd minute when William Nordenstrom netted his third goal of the season, forcing overtime. Northern Kentucky's Kobie Qualah then turned in his second goal of the match in the overtime period, securing a 2-1 Norse victory.
Northern Kentucky (8-4-3, 4-1-3) found itself up early in the contest after finding the back of the net on its first shot attempt of the match. NKU's Qualah scored his first goal in the 14th minute of the match when teammate Alwin Komolong found him in the box after picking off a Phoenix pass.
Green Bay waited until the second half of play to erase the deficit, as Sidney McClain crossed the ball in front of the Norse goal to Nordenstrom, allowing him to find the back of the net from five yards out.
Northern Kentucky didn't waste any time in the overtime period, as the Norse's Qualah found the back of the net for his second goal of the match in the first minute of the period after Johannes Jansen served him the ball from the far right wing.
Six Phoenix players recorded shots in the match, with Audi Jepson and Cheenuj Shong leading the attack with three apiece.
Green Bay will return home to Aldo Santaga Stadium on Tuesday at 7 p.m. when it plays host to Eastern Illinois for its final non-conference match of the season. The match will be televised LIVE on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.
