GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Wright State netted four goals on Saturday at Aldo Santaga Stadium en route to a 4-1 victory over Green Bay. The Raiders (7-7-1, 4-3-1) picked up their fourth league victory of the season in the four-goal outburst and have now won three-straight league contests.
Wright State was the first team to get on the board, as the Raiders' Natalie Sedlock found the back of the Phoenix (3-13-0, 1-7-0) net in the 8th minute of play. Ashley Gogolin aided Sedlock in the attempt after she recorded a header that was deflected away from the goal by the keeper, right into the foot of Sedlock who fired it into the Green Bay net.
Wright State went on to add another goal before Green Bay was able to turn in a scoring strike, this one from Bryce Hueber after she fired at the Phoenix net from 45 yards out and sent one bouncing into the goal.
After falling behind 2-0, the Phoenix's Katie Schulz logged her second goal of the season on a free kick attempt that was straight-on with the goal. Schulz sent a rocket over the line of the defenders and beat Wright State's keeper to pull the Phoenix within one.
Although Green Bay had cut into the deficit, the Raiders would tally two more goals in the second half of play to defeat the Phoenix 4-1 on the night.
Green Bay outshot Wright State 16-12 but only placed five attempts on-goal compared to the Raiders' eight.
Seven different members of the Green Bay team recorded shots on the evening, with five of them placing shots on the Wright State goal.
The Phoenix will now gear up for its season finale against Northern Kentucky in Highland Heights, Ky., next Friday at 7 p.m.
