GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay sophomore Allie LeClaire (Green Bay, Wis.) claimed her second career Horizon League Player of the Week honor after averaging 20 points in two Phoenix wins, the league announced Monday.
LeClaire tallied 26 points and four assists while shooting four-of-seven from behind the three-point arc in a 65-51 victory over Loyola (2-7) last Wednesday. Three days later the Green Bay native again led the Phoenix (8-2) in scoring, collecting 14 points in a thrilling 58-57 win over South Dakota State (9-3).
In the two victories, LeClaire combined for four steals while shooting 52 percent from the field, 50 percent from deep, and 80 percent from the free throw line. She averaged 33.5 minutes per game for head coach Kevin Borseth. LeClaire claimed her first Horizon League Player of the Week award earlier this season after scoring a career-high 30 points in a win over Drake on Dec. 6.
The Phoenix has now won five straight games since returning from the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Green Bay will play its next two games at home before beginning Horizon League play, hosting Belmont on Tuesday, Dec. 22 and Dayton on Wednesday, Dec. 30. The Phoenix will play its first conference game on New Year's Day at Milwaukee.
