GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – After a stellar weekend on the road against league-foe Youngstown State, senior Hailey Mohrfeld (Menomonee, Wis.) tabbed the first weekly honor of the season for the Green Bay softball team, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Helping the Phoenix to a 2-1 record on the road this weekend, the star shortstop went 9-for-12 (.750) at the plate and picked up a pair of RBIs. In addition, Mohrfeld collected at least one hit in each of the contests to improve her hit streak to eight games. The nine-hit weekend also propelled Mohrleld second place on Green Bay's single-season hits list with 55, one hit shy of Katie Cooney's record of 56.

Mohrfeld also picked up her eighth double and fourth home run of the season in this weekend's games. However, Mohrfeld's production was not limited to the plate, as the senior also put in work on the bases to improve upon her team-leading stolen base numbers over the weekend, bringing her total to 11 on the season.

“Hailey is very deserving of this award,” said head coach Beth Spoehr. “I have the pleasure of watching her work every day, and she is a perfect example of hard work paying off.”

This weekly honor is the first of Mohrfeld's career with the Phoenix.

Green Bay will return to action Wednesday afternoon, as the Phoenix heads to Ames, Iowa for a doubleheader against Iowa State with the first pitch slated for  2 p.m.
