GREEN BAY, Wis. – Paeton Kringel pitched a complete game shutout in game two as the Phoenix split their day one doubleheader against NKU Friday afternoon. The Norse took game one 10-6 before GB bounced back with an 8-0, five-inning win in game two. The series rubber match is set for tomorrow at noon CST.
GAME 1 | Northern Kentucky 10, Green Bay 6
The Phoenix was trailing 2-0 in the first inning when they first got on the board, thanks to Anderson's RBI double with one out that scored Sara Ebner.
The Phoenix deficit grew to 5-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, tying the score in the fifth inning with four runs. The Green Bay offense had multiple extra-base hits in the inning, including an RBI double from Ebner and an RBI triple from Herman.
Northern Kentucky didn't allow the 5-5 tie to hold long, putting up five more runs of their own in the top of the sixth to make it 10-5. The Phoenix rallied in the seventh and scored on an RBI single from LaMotte, but were unable to get any closer, as NKU's Alicia Flores sealed the win for the visitors.
Megan Weiss (1-1) took the loss in the circle for Green Bay. Flores was credited with the win for NKU.
Gracie Anderson's two extra-base hits were the highlight of the Phoenix offense. She finished 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, and an RBI. Ebner put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with an RBI double and drawing two walks.

» Green Bay pitchers faced 40 Northern Kentucky hitters in the game, allowing nine ground balls and nine fly balls while striking out three.
» The Phoenix drew seven walks from Northern Kentucky pitching.
» Herman's triple was the sixth of her Phoenix career, one shy of the top ten all-time list.

GAME 2 | Green Bay 8, Northern Kentucky 0
Paeton Kringel was dealing in game two, hurling a four-hit shutout to lead the Green Bay Phoenix past the Northern Kentucky Norse 8-0 in the second game of the day.
Kringel (2-3) went the distance for Green Bay, giving up four hits, walking two, and striking out six in her five innings of work.
Green Bay's offense started clicking right out of the gate, immediately putting up five runs, starting with two RBI doubles from Emma Krueger and Sidney LaMotte.
The Phoenix added three more runs in the fourth inning thanks to a two-RBI single from Brooke Schwall and another RBI knock from Claire Coushman.

» Sidney LaMotte now has RBIs in each of her last four games, and six of her last seven. Her 22 RBIs are top ten in the Horizon League.
» The Phoenix out-hit the Norse at a 12-4 clip.

The Phoenix will conclude their weekend series against Northern Kentucky, as they host the Norse at King's Park tomorrow on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. CST. Green Bay will then host UW-Oshkosh on Tuesday for a doubleheader at King's Park, beginning at 2:00 p.m. CST.
