LEMONT, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay women's golf saw solid starts from two of its top individual players at the UIC Fall Shootout on Saturday.
Senior Sammi Grunder (Pardeeville, Wis.) led the squad, tying for third and finishing two shots back of the leader. Grunder shot a three-over par 75 at Cog Hill Golf Course.
Junior Avery Steen (Luck, Wis.) recorded a top-ten finish as well, shooting a four-over par 76 and tying for sixth place.
Green Bay senior Steph Laude (Slinger, Wis.) carded a solid round, finishing tied for 13th place with a 78. Sophomore Emily Grunder (Pardeeville, Wis.) finished in 36th place after shooting an 87, while senior Lexi Wilson (Marinette, Wis.) finished tied for 37th after carding an 88.
The Phoenix placed fourth in the six-team field, topping Horizon League foes Detroit and host, UIC. Green Bay will continue its fall campaign Sept. 21-22 at the Loyola-Chicago Invitational in Flossmoor, Ill.
