GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women's soccer team took the pitch for the last time in 2016 this evening at Aldo Santaga Stadium versus Youngstown State. The Phoenix was able to get its offense firing immediately, as senior Hayley Fowle found the back of the Penguins' net in the sixth minute of play.
Youngstown State responded to the deficit minutes later, netting its first goal in the 10th minute and another in the 12th minute to take the lead. Fowle, however, buried her second goal of the match after securing a deflection off a corner kick in the 16th minute of play to pull the Phoenix even.
After combining to score four goals in the first 16 minutes of play, both teams were able to get locked in on defense and hold each other scoreless for the remainder of the match, resulting in a 2-2 draw.
Prior to match, Fowle, Katie Schulz and Lily Marcelius were honored for the contributions to Green Bay and the women's soccer team.
