GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women's basketball team opened the season with a 71-56 victory over Elon in the first-ever meeting between the two programs on Friday night at the Kress Center.
Mehryn Kraker led all scorers on the evening with a 22-point performance on 8-of-14 shooting. Joining Kraker in double-digit scoring numbers were Jessica Lindstrom (12 points), Allie LeClaire (12 points) and Jen Wellnitz (10 points). Lindstrom also pulled down 12 rebounds to pick up right where she left off last season and collected the ninth double-double of her career.
Prior to tipoff, Green Bay raised two banners to honor the 2015-16 regular season and tournament championship and held a ring ceremony.
The Phoenix will host Little Rock on Sunday in Round Two of the Preseason WNIT at 1 p.m.
