VALPARAISO, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay senior Sammi Grunder (Pardeeville, Wis.), shot the best score in two of three rounds and claimed medalist honors as the Phoenix women's golf team competed in a dual match play event at Valparaiso over the weekend.
Grunder's first-round 76 was four strokes better than any other player on the course. She followed that with a final-round 75 to finish six strokes better than the second-place finisher from Valparaiso. It was the third top-five finish for the Green Bay senior this spring, and her first individual victory of the season.
Fellow senior Steph Laude (Slinger, Wis.), played consistently for the Phoenix, carding rounds of 86, 85, 86 to conclude the final regular-season event of her Green Bay career.
The Phoenix will next take part in the Horizon League Championships at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Orlando, Florida April 22-24.
