Series History

The series is tied 6-6 all-time. Both teams hold a 4-2 advantage at home.

NOTABLES

  • Green Bay earned the season sweep over Cleveland State in Monday night's 83-73 victory.
  • Oakland won both meetings last season, scoring 111 points in each matchup.
  • The 36.5 shooting field goal percentage Cleveland State shot on Monday night is the lowest by a Division I team against the Phoenix this season.

LAST TIME OUT

Green Bay returned to its winning ways on Monday night, knocking off Cleveland State 83-73 at home to snap a two-game losing skid. The win put Green Bay all alone in second place at 6-2, trailing Valparaiso (which GB lost to on Jan. 16) who stands at 6-1. Charles Cooper, Warren Jones and Kerem Kanter combined to score 46 of the team's 83 points, 33 of which came in the second half alone. The Phoenix earned the season sweep of the Vikings, and the team scored 52 points off the bench and shot 59.3 percent in the second half after leading by just two at the break.

WARREN J0NE$

Warren Jones has been lighting it up from 3-point land over his six games, shooting 15-for-24 (62.5 percent) from beyond the arc over that span. Jones went 3-for-3 against Cleveland State and 5-for-6 against Wright State earlier this year from long range. He is shooting 41.3 percent from 3-point range for the season, the highest percentage of any player averaging at least one 3-point attempt per game. Jones leads the Horizon League in 3-point field goal percentage in league games only with 59.3 percent (16-27) and has made multiple 3s in eight games this season, five of which have come in league play.

COUNTING ON COOPER

Whether he is coming off the bench (seven games) or starting (one game) in Horizon League games, Preseason All-League honoree Charles Cooper has been as reliable and productive as any player in the league. Cooper ranks seventh in the league and leads the team in scoring in league games with 15.9 points. He has reached double figures in seven of eight games this season and has scored 16 or more points in six games. Cooper also ranks seventh in rebounding and leads the team in that category with 6.8 rebounds per game.

FOUR SCORE

Green Bay has finished fourth or better in the Horizon League for four-straight seasons and is looking to make it five-straight this year, already owning six wins and sitting in second place through eight league games. The Phoenix program has the second-most wins starting with the 2012-13 season until now, racking up 53 wins over that time. That number trails only Valparaiso's 57 wins. Green Bay earned its first trip to the NCAA Tournament in 20 years last year when it captured the Horizon League Tournament title in Detroit, two years after it won the regular season championship for the first time since 1995-96. Green Bay has built itself into a consistent contender in the Horizon League and at the mid-major level.

ROAD AHEAD

After playing five of its first eight league games at home, Green Bay will hit the road for six of its next eight games starting this weekend for the Detroit area swing. The Phoenix is 2-1 in Horizon League road games this year, earning the Ohio sweep (CSU and YSU) and falling at Valparaiso. Green Bay is coming off a homestand where it played five of six games at the Resch Center, going 4-2 in those games. Charles Cooper (12.8 PPG), Kerem Kanter (10.6 PPG) and Trevor Anderson (10.0 PPG) are all averaging in double figures in road games this season for the Phoenix.

BENCH IN BUNCHES

The Phoenix recorded 52 points off the bench, its highest total in any Horizon League game in its recent win against Cleveland State. The team has scored 44 points or more in bench scoring in four of its eight league games and is averaging 39.5 bench points per game in Horizon League play. That total leads the Horizon League and gives the Phoenix and head coach Linc Darner the option to play multiple players.

SENIOR SIX

Green Bay has six seniors on the roster for 2016-17, the most in over 10 years. The six seniors, led by Charles Cooper's 13.8 PPG, are combining to score 61 percent of the team's points. Warren Jones (9.4 PPG), Jamar Hurdle (9.3 PPG), Turner Botz (7.1 PPG), Kenneth Lowe (5.5 PPG) and Tevin Findlay (3.6 PPG) are all in their last year of eligibility in Green Bay, giving the Phoenix the most seniors on roster in the entire Horizon League. All six are averaging 15 MPG or more.
