GREEN BAY, Wis. - Construction is underway for the $4.9 million Kress Family Outdoor Recreation Complex, which is being built on the UWGB campus located between the Kress Events Center and Aldo Santaga Stadium. Scherrer Construction came on site for the project in mid-August and will finish their construction work by January 2018, which includes both a new soccer stadium and major softball field and facility upgrades.
A celebration with project donors, UW-Green Bay students, University leadership and the media will take place on Monday, Nov. 13, at 3 p.m. when turf will be rolled out for the field. All fans, donors and community members are welcome to attend. The grand opening of the facility will take place in 2018.
Funding for the $4.9 million project included a mix of around $4 million in private donations with the remainder being funded from student fees.
The new soccer stadium will feature the following amenities:
- Turf Field
- Lights
- Concessions and Restrooms Building
- Grandstands
- Press Box constructed with live video streaming capabilities
- Scoreboard
- Guest kiosk and Welcome Center
- Donor Wall
The updates to the Phoenix softball field will include the following:
- Press box constructed with live video streaming capabilities
- Restrooms
- Batting Cages
- Additional enhancements coming in Spring 2018
