Green Bay Celebrates Senior Day with Three-Set Win Over Wright State

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay volleyball team made quick work of Wright State on Saturday afternoon while celebrating Senior Day, winning 3-0 to finish its home season off at the Kress Center. The Phoenix (12-13, 8-6 HL) won 25-15, 25-9 and 25-16 to improve to 8-6 in league play this season and grant Taylor Totka, Lydia DeWeese and Abby Jeffcoat one final victory in front of their home crowd.

The Raiders made thing competitive early on and started out leading the Phoenix, 8-7, but Green Bay responded with five-straight points sparked by kills from Taylor Wolf and Lydia DeWeese. The Phoenix would go on to build a 22-13 advantage after a kill from Maddie Yoss and eventually win the opening set 25-15.

It was more of the same from Green Bay in the second set as the Phoenix jumped out to an 11-2 lead after one of the eight attack errors for the Raiders in the set was committed by Abby Barcus. Wright State simply had no answer for the relentless Phoenix attack that hit .600 in the second set, falling 25-9.

WSU tried to claw back late in the third set, but Green Bay was able to clutch up and secure the three-set victory, 25-16.

Todd led the Phoenix with 16 kills, while Taylor Wolf and Lydia DeWeese tallied 11 apiece. DeWeese finished with a team-high four blocks on the evening and Yoss directed the Phoenix attack with 38 kills.

The Phoenix will close out the regular season next weekend with matchups against Cleveland State (Friday, Nov. 10 at 5 p.m.) and Northern Kentucky (Saturday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m.).
