Men's Soccer Faces Off with Detroit Mercy in Horizon League Semifinals

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's soccer team will take the pitch tomorrow night in Chicago, Ill., for the Horizon League Tournament semifinals at Flames field, facing off against No. 6 Detroit Mercy at 4 p.m. (CT). The Phoenix earned the top seed in the tournament after securing the program's first-ever Horizon League title outright.

OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER
Audi Jepson has been a consistent force in Green Bay's attack all season long and ranks among the league leaders in points, goals, assists and game-winning goals. The senior has a total of four-game winners through the nine-game league season. Jepson ranks second in assists with five only to teammate Tomer Zloczower who has tallied six. As a team, the Phoenix enters the tournament second in goals and assists. Green Bay has outscored its league opponents 17 goals to nine this season. 

HOW WE GOT HERE
Green Bay closed out the season with the best mark in Horizon League play in the program's history at 7-1-1, earning the top seed in the tournament and a bye to the semifinals. The seven wins in the league season is a new program best, with the Phoenix never before reaching the milestone in the Horizon League era. 

GREEN BAY HONORED BY LEAGUE
The Horizon League announced its all-league awards on Monday afternoon, with the Phoenix being well-represented on the respective teams. Head Coach Jeremy Bonomo was named the league's Coach of the Year, Audi Jepson received Offensive Player of the Year honors and Tomer Zloczower (First team), Buran Huseini (Second Team), Marcos Bautista (Second Team) and Adam Mansa (All-Freshman Team) were named to all-league teams. 

A LOOK AT DETROIT MERCY
Detroit Mercy took the field against Milwaukee in the quarterfinals on Monday night at Engelmann Stadium in Milwaukee, Wis., and defeated the Panthers in PKs, 5-4, after working to a 2-2 draw through regulation and the overtime periods. It is the first time the Titans have advanced to the tournament's semifinals since the 2014 season. The Titans enter Thursday's matchup at 7-7-4 and finished the league season with a 4-4-1 record.
