Indiana State Cruises in Second Half as Green Bay Falls on the Road 85-63

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay entered halftime tied on the road with Indiana State on Tuesday night, but the Phoenix was then outscored by 22 points in the second half on the way to falling 85-63 at the Hulman Center in nonconference action. GB (3-6) was outscored 53-31 over the final 20 minutes, after fighting back to tie the Sycamores (5-5) 32-32 to close out the first half.

After the Phoenix scored the first three points of the second half, ISU answered with a 22-5 run to take a 54-40 lead, its largest of the game up to that point. After GB ended the run and cut the deficit to 10 at 50-40, the Sycamores hit the Phoenix with another blow, this time in the form of a 24-10 run.

The Sycamores would lead by as many as 27 points in the second half, and GB lost the lead for good when ISU scored to go up 35-33. The rest of the game was controlled by the home team.

GB shot a season-low 16.7 percent (3-for-18) from 3-point range, while ISU was able to go 9-for-21 (42.9 percent). The Phoenix defense tied its season-high with 17 turnovers forced, but turned that into just 15 points.

Khalil Small led GB with 15 points, his ninth-straight game to open the season in double figures. Manny Patterson and Kameron Hankerson each scored 11 points, while PJ Pipes scored 8 points and Will Chevalier added 7 in the effort.

ISU was led by Jordan Barnes with 22 points and 6 assists. The Sycamores shot 50.9 percent (27-for-53) from the floor, including 56.7 percent in the second half alone. They are the second-straight team to shoot 50 percent or better against the Phoenix, with Missouri shooting 52.8 percent on Saturday.

The Phoenix returns home for three-straight games, starting with UW-Parkside on Saturday (Dec. 16) night. Tip-off at the Resch Center is set for 6 p.m.
