GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay scored 52 points in the first half and five players scored in double-figures on Saturday evening, helping the Phoenix pick up an 86-50 win over visiting UW-Parkside at the Resch Center. GB (4-6) led 52-20 at the half and shot 55.7 percent (34-for-61) from the field, while forcing the Rangers into 17 turnovers and a 4-for-20 effort from long range.
Freshman
Hunter Crist netted a career-high 16 points and seven rebounds, shooting a scorching 6-for-7 from the field while also going 2-for-2 at both the free throw line and from 3-point range. Crist had only scored in double-figures once this season, scoring 10 points at Missouri, but was on fire in this game.
Green Bay, which is now 4-1 at home this season, opened up a 34-9 lead and never looked back. Parkside did play a tight second half, playing to a 34-30 score line the final 20 minutes.
David Jesperson,
PJ Pipes and
Kameron Hankerson each scored 11 points in the game, while senior
Khalil Small recorded 10 points for his 10
th-straight game in double-figures this season. Jesperson grabbed 6 rebounds and 5-for-7 from the floor, while Pipes went a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line.
GB turned the 17 Parkside turnovers into 22 points, while also getting 38 points from its bench.
Trevian Bell added 9 points and
Will Chevalier scored 6 off the bench.
The Phoenix shot a season-high 55.7 percent (34-for-61) from the field, with all 10 players to play in the game scoring at least 2 points.
It's a quick turnaround for Green Bay, who will host Rockford on Monday night at 7 p.m. back at the Resch Center.
