Green Bay Falls in 100-77 Shootout at Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay hit 11 3-pointers on Saturday night at Mizzou Arena, but Missouri made 15 3s of its own as the Phoenix fell 100-77 in nonconference action. The Phoenix (3-5) came out of the gates hot, but the Tigers (8-2) would go on to shoot 53 percent in the game and cruise to the 23-point victory at home.

Senior David Jesperson recorded a career-high 17 points on five made 3-pointers, and carried the team in the first half in its hopes for the upset bid. Jesperson and Green Bay were unable to keep up with the high-scoring team from the SEC, who wound up scoring its highest total since 2012.

Green Bay was unafraid to run up and down the floor with Missouri, as both teams combined to launch 62 3-pointers throughout the 40 minutes of action. GB made a season-high 11 3s in the game, and is now averaging 10 made 3s over its last 3 games.

The Phoenix opened up a 13-4 lead just under 3 minutes into the game, but the Tigers responded to tie the game at 21-21, eventually taking the lead for good the following possession. Missouri would take a 60-40 lead into the half.

Joining Jesperson in double figures was fellow-senior Khalil Small and freshmen Will Chevalier and Hunter Crist. Small added 12 points of his own and has now scored in double-figures in all 8 games this season and continues to lead the team in scoring.

Chevalier knocked down three 3s off the bench, recording a career-high 11 points. Crist went 5-for-6 at the free throw line and scored a career-high 10 points in the defeat.

Missouri shot 53 percent (38-for-72) in the game, including 14-for-35 (40 percent) from beyond the arc. Green Bay shot a season-high 41 percent (11-for-27) from long range and went 10-for-12 from the free throw line.
PJ Pipes added 9 points on 4-for-5 shooting and Trevian Bell notched 7 points.

Missouri was led by Jordan Geist with 28 points on five made 3s.

The Phoenix will stay on the road for its next trip to Terre Haute, Ind., where it will visit Indiana State. Tip-off for that game will take place at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday (Dec. 12) night.
