A tough Akron team held the Phoenix back from scoring a single goal last Sunday, keeping the total number of shots on goal to just four as compared to Akron's 11. Although the team also faced a loss against St. Cloud State at home a few days prior, the numbers were much different: Green Bay posted seven shots on goal compared to St. Cloud State's two, proving that there is potential within the Green Bay offense that just did not perform as well against Akron.
The Green Bay women last saw the Panthers in 2014, where they tied 1-1. This year, Eastern Illinois (1-0-1) beat Horizon League members IUPUI 2-0 and tied Indiana State 1-1, and now welcome the Phoenix to Lakeside Field for their own home opening game. The Panthers' Carrie Caplin will be one to watch out for, as the senior received conference honors for playing all 200 minutes on the field. Last year, Southeast Missouri State saw the Phoenix women for the first time and won 1-0 in overtime. Currently, the Redhawks boast a record of 2-0 after two shutouts.
