GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2017 season at the hands of Drake, 1-0, on Wednesday evening at Aldo Santaga Stadium. The match was a defensive battle for the most part, with both squads combining to place seven shots on-goal.
"Tonight should serve as a wake-up call for our guys," head coach Jeremy Bonomo said. "Drake was a team that was hungry and desperate for a win. We didn't execute very well until the last 20 minutes and they were able to finish and create a good goal. That was the difference."
Green Bay looked poised for the equalizer late as the squad pieced together back-to-back corners in the 76th minute, but shots from
Audi Jepson and
Marcos Bautista both finished wide.
Nikola Kahvedzic protected the net for the squad and finished with one save on the evening.
