GREEN BAY, Wis – The Green Bay volleyball team played its first home match of the season on Friday at the Kress Center, but visiting North Dakota stole the show with a 3-0 victory in the third match of the day in the 2017 Green Bay Country Inn & Suites Classic. The Phoenix (4-6) certainly didn't play its best match of the season, but the Fighting Hawks (14-2) forced the home team into mistakes on both sides of the net, bouncing back nicely from its 3-0 defeat earlier in the day against Cal Poly.

North Dakota took the opening set 25-21, after Green Bay fought back from early deficit. With the Phoenix trailing by just one at 20-19 after a Lydia DeWeese kill and UND error, the Fighting Hawks took the next three points to go up 23-19. All three points were scored on Green Bay errors, with a service error and a pair of missed attacks at the net.

The second set was there for the taking for Green Bay, leading 23-21 and on serve late. After a momentum changing UND timeout, the Fighting Hawks would close the match on a 4-0 run to win 25-23. Three of the four points were scored on GB errors.

UND would finish the match in the third set, escaping with the 25-21 win. Green Bay charged back to tie the set at 8-8, but UND eventually took a 17-10 lead. Again, GB fought back and was only down 20-19 late in the set. The third set went in the Fighting Hawks favor, winning five of the final seven points.

Jessica Wolf led Green Bay's attack with 10 kills and her younger sister added nine kills. DeWeese finished with four blocks and nine kills, while Maddie Yoss registered 36 assists and eight digs.

Green Bay will look to end its current losing skid tomorrow afternoon in the final match of the weekend tournament at the Kress Center. The Phoenix will face Cal Poly, who won both matches today over North Dakota and IUPUI in straight sets and sits just outside the AVCA Top 25.

First serve is set for 4 p.m., which will follow IUPUI and North Dakota at 1 p.m.
