Box Score GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay took the field against Milwaukee, one of just four unbeaten teams in the nation, on Wednesday night at Engelmann Stadium and earned a draw with the Panthers (10-0-2, 2-0-1). The Phoenix earned its second shutout of the season and moved to 2-7-1 overall and 1-1-1 in Horizon League play. It is the first recorded draw between the rival programs since the 1993 season.
The Phoenix defense complimented its offense well all night, working well in transition to fend off 23 Panthers' shots and only allow six on goal, all of which safely ended up in the hands of goalkeeper Kelly Kent. Green Bay finished the night with 12 shots and placed five of the attempts on the mark. All five on-goal attempts came from a different member of the squad, led by Maggie Fuller who finished with three shots on the evening.
Milwaukee held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks but couldn't find a solution to the relentless Green Bay defense. Tonight was the first time since Milwaukee's season opener where it was held scoreless.
The Phoenix will face another tough challenge on Saturday as the squad heads to Indianapolis, Ind., for a matchup with the league's newest member, IUPUI. The Jaguars secured their league-leading third victory in league play tonight, defeating UIC 2-1 for its eighth-straight win.
