Women's Soccer Falls 3-0 At Home Versus Northern Illinois

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women's soccer team challenged Northern Illinois on Sunday afternoon at Aldo Santaga Stadium, falling 3-0 to the Huskies in their second of five-straight home matches. The Phoenix allowed a pair of goals in the first half and a late goal in the second half to fall to 0-6-0 on the season.

NIU (3-1-1) scored both first half goals in under a two-minute span, striking in the 15th and 16th minutes. The Huskies nearly added a third goal, but the one-on-one attempt was saved by Emma Sloot

The Phoenix had a few chances on goal in the second half, recording four shots on goal to the Huskies' two. Brianna Messner put two shots on the keeper and another header effort in the box off a corner kick was turned away before NIU added its third goal in the 81st minute.

The two teams each attempted 14 shots, with NIU holding the edge on goal with a 7-5 advantage.

GOAL SUMMARY

15' | NIU | Allie Ingham (Assist: Natalia Pena): After NIU attacked and was defended well, ball landed to Pena who played it back to the feet of Allie Ingham from the left side around 35-40 yards out. Ingham took one touch and fired the shot that carried over Emma Sloot's head directly into the back of the net.

16' | NIU | Taylor Sarver (Assist: Madison Kaufmann): Kaufmann was able to get a through pass over midfield through central defense to the feet of Sarver. Sarver dribbled for 10 yards before firing shot past the right side of Sloot who came out to cover as the ball sailed past and into the back of the net.

81' | NIU | Kelsey Chope (Assist: Natalie Yass): Yass was able to find space on the right sideline, playing the ball all the way over to Chope on the far side of the box. After the ball was deflected Chope, she was able to head it home past Kelly Kent and slowly into the back of the net.
