GREEN BAY, Wis – The Green Bay volleyball team moved to a perfect 4-0 in Horizon League play after defeating UIC 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Kress Center. The Phoenix opened the match with a dominant 25-14 set victory but allowed the flames to pull even in the second, falling 26-24. Green Bay (8-7, 4-0 HL) closed out the victory with wins in the third (25-19) and fourth (25-21) sets to pick up its second victory in as many days. 

After a strong first set that saw Green Bay cruise to a 25-14 win, the Flames (11-5, 2-1 HL) came out strong in the second set and jumped out to an 11-8 lead. Green Bay battled back and led things 23-20 after a kill from Taylor Wolf, but UIC closed the set with a 6-1 run to even things at the break.
 
From there, it was all Green Bay as the Phoenix went on to win its fourth-straight match after claiming back-to-back sets over UIC.

Green Bay turned in a .287 hitting percentage in the afternoon of work, while the squad held UIC to just .177. 

Lydia DeWeese led the Phoenix with 17 kills, besting her 16-kill mark against Milwaukee for her highest total since her 20-kill effort against Butler back on Sept. 2. DeWeese hit .359 in the match and tallied three blocks. Freshman Taylor Wolf had a solid day for the Phoenix attack and finished with 16 kills and five assists. She also rejected two Flames' attacks.

Sophomore Maddie Yoss picked up her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with 48 assists and 11 digs. Vanessa Buman led the Phoenix with 20 digs. 

The Phoenix will return to the court next weekend when the team travels to Ohio for matchups with Wright State (Oct. 6) and IUPUI (Oct. 7).
