GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay men's soccer team welcomed UIC to Aldo Santaga Stadium on Wednesday night and picked up a crucial victory over the Flames, 2-0, after goals from Tomer Zloczower and Joey Bourgeois.

"We played well tonight in all phases of the game against a quality team," head coach Jeremy Bonomo said. "It was enjoyable to see the total team effort."

The elements were certainly a factor in the outing, as snow was present in Green Bay throughout the afternoon and temps were in the low-30s with high winds adding to the chill. The Phoenix opened the match with the wind at its back and made the most of the opportunity, owning a 5-3 edge in shots and a one-goal lead at the break after Zloczower collected a clearance and fired it into the Flames' net in the 40th minute.

Freshman Bourgeois added to the Green Bay lead in the 62nd minute with his third goal of the season, after teammate' Kevin Cela's shot deflected off the keeper's hands, hit the crossbar and bounced back out to the feet of Bourgeois.

The Phoenix defense held the Flames scoreless for the remainder of the match to seal a 2-0, clean sheet victory. GB goalkeeper Nikola Kahvedzic tallied four saves in 90 minutes.

Green Bay returns to the pitch to face Wright State under the lights at Aldo Santaga Stadium on Saturday, October 27 at 7 p.m.
