CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay softball team put 12 runs on the board in its weekend finale at the UNI Dome Classic, its highest total in 60 games, but that still wasn't enough to defeat South Dakota State who plated 19 the matchup.

SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 19, GREEN BAY 12
After a scoreless first frame from both teams, the Phoenix (1-4) brought six runners around to score in the second inning. Olivia Magaldi notched the first two RBIs of the day with a double to right-center that scored Morgan Bihun and Aubrey Drohner.

Chyanne Onstad capped off the first-inning production with a single through the left side that saw Bailey Schultz touch home and grant Green Bay a 6-0 advantage.

South Dakota State (2-3) cut the deficit in half with three running in the bottom of the inning, followed by both squads scoring one in the third to make it 7-4 with four innings to play.

Three runs in the fourth jumpstarted by a two-RBI single to left field from Drohner put Green Bay on top 10-4. The Phoenix defense held the Jackrabbits scoreless in the bottom of the frame, with its offense adding two more runs in the fifth to make it a 12-4 advantage needing nine outs to seal the win.

SDSU stormed back with four runs in the fifth followed by its defense shutting out Green Bay in the top of the sixth. The Jackrabbits took the lead and added on some insurance in the sixth, scoring 11 runs on five hits and three defensive miscues by Green Bay.

The Phoenix was unable to rally in the seventh, falling 19-12 to wrap up its first weekend of action.
