No. 20 Green Bay Celebrates Pink Zone, Alumni Day with 10th-Straight Victory

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Notching its 10th-straight win in front of 2,950 fans at the Kress Center on Saturday afternoon, the Green Bay women's basketball team defeated Wright State, 75-68, in the annual Pink Zone game hosted by Prevea Health.
 
The Phoenix (21-2, 11-1) helped raise over $10,000 during the game, with all donations benefiting the Ribbon of Hope.
 
Only a single point separated the two programs after the opening quarter of action, with Green Bay owning a 19-18 edge after a late three-pointer from Jessica Lindstrom.
 
The lead changed hands eight times on the afternoon and saw the score tied on four separate occasions, but like it has all season, Green Bay buckled down late a staved off the Raiders late attempts to pull even with the Phoenix.
 
For over five minutes in the fourth quarter, Wright State (16-8, 7-5) was held scoreless and faced a 62-51 deficit with time winding down. The Raiders did manage to gain traction offensively, pulling within five points (69-64) with 34 seconds left on the clock and sending Green Bay to the line.
 
Caitlyn Hibner sank five free throws in the final minute to help secure Green Bay's 10th-straight victory in Horizon League play, 75-68.
 
Allie LeClaire led the Phoenix with 22 points on an 8-of-14 effort from the field paired with three rebounds and three assists in 35 minutes. Fellow senior Jessica Lindstrom followed closely behind with 19 points while going 7-of-10 from the field, grabbing seven boards and doling out four assists.
 
Caitlyn Hibner reached double digits after a clutch 7-for-8 performance at the line, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for the first double-double of her career.
 
Horizon League Preseason Player of the Year Chelsea Welch finished with a game-high 24 points but was held to 8-of-20 from the field by the Phoenix defense.
 
Green Bay also hosted Alumni Day in the jam-packed game, with the former members of the program being recognized on the court at the media timeout of the second quarter.
 
Green Bay now hits the road for four-straight games, with its next action coming on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Milwaukee.
