CLEVELAND, Ohio (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay softball team was the home team on Friday afternoon, but it was forced to play at its opponent's home field due to unplayable field conditions at Green Bay. The Phoenix made the most of its situation, taking down Cleveland State 7-2 in the series opener at Viking Field.

The Vikings touched home first after a pair of hits in the opening frame, but the Phoenix responded with six unanswered runs to break open the game.

Green Bay plated two in the second inning and an additional three in the third before
Chyanne Onstad knocked
Olivia Magaldi in with a double to right-center in the fourth, bringing the Phoenix advantage to 6-1.

CSU scored again in the sixth inning but the run was negated when
Crystal Guzman scored for Green Bay in the bottom of the frame on a single to left from Magaldi.

Green Bay closed out the game with a scoreless seventh inning and clinched its second league victory of the season, 7-2. The Phoenix outhit the Vikings 11-7 and played flawlessly on the defensive side of the plate.

Onstad, Guzman and
Emily Madeiros all registered multi-hit afternoons for Green Bay, with Madeiros and Guzman tallying two RBIs apiece.

Kayla Schwebke pitched another complete game for Green Bay and has now allowed only three runs in 19.0 innings of work during the conference slate.
