Softball Falls in Doubleheader at Wisconsin on Wednesday

MADISON, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay softball team took the diamond against in-state rival Wisconsin on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Badgers (18-16) on the road in both games of the doubleheader.
 
Wisconsin 8, Green Bay 0 (6 innings)
Wisconsin took control of the game after scoring four runs on four hits in the second frame, followed by an additional run in the third to lead the Phoenix 5-0 after the first three innings.
 
Green Bay (7-23) was held scoreless in the first game of the doubleheader, falling 8-0 in six innings.
 
Green Bay managed four hits against the strong Big Ten defense, but allowed 12 to the Badgers while both teams suffered one defensive miscue.
 
Chyanne Onstad's 13-game hitting streak was snapped in the matchup but the sophomore catcher did manage to reach base after earning a walk.

Wisconsin 10, Green Bay 2 (5 innings)
The Badgers carried its success from the opening matchup into game two of the doubleheader, plating five runs in the second inning followed by another five runs in the next three frames to secure a 10-2 win in five innings.
 
Green Bay's offense enjoyed some production in the finale with the badgers after being shutout in game one, scoring two runs in the fifth inning after RBIs from Morgan Bihun and Aubrey Drohner.
 
Wisconsin scored three in the bottom of the fifth to enforce the run-rule and seal a 10-2 victory.
 
Green Bay matched Wisconsin's hit total with six in the pairing and played flawlessly defensively while the Badgers suffered two errors.

Green Bay returns to its Horizon League slate this weekend at Detroit Mercy, taking on the Titans in a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 2 p.m. (CT) followed by the series finale on Saturday at 11 a.m.
