Green Bay Falls Twice on First Day at UIC


CHICAGO, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay softball suffered a pair of losses as it battled league-leading UIC on the road Tuesday afternoon, dropping a tight contest, 3-2, to open the series before falling in game two, 10-3.

Green Bay was on top early against the team with the best record in the Horizon League, as Chyanne Onstad used a grounder to second to plate Sonia Schubert in the third frame.
 
Three runs in the sixth inning for the Flames put Green Bay at a two-run deficit with only a single inning left in the contest.
 
The Phoenix battled in its final plate appearances, scoring one run after Onstad singled through the left side to collect her second RBI, once again scoring Schubert.
 
UIC never let Green Bay pull even and held on for a 3-2 victory.

UIC 10, GREEN BAY 3
The Flames tabbed one run in each of the first two innings, jumping out to an early 2-0 advantage after the first couple frames.
                                                                                                                                                                          
Green Bay evened the score with one run in both the third and fourth innings, tying the game at 2-2 after RBIs from Olivia Magaldi and Crystal Guzman.
 
UIC regained the lead in the top of the fifth and never looked back, working its way to a 10-2 advantage as the teams headed to the final inning of play.
 
The Phoenix once again put a run on the board with its final at-bats but was unable to extend the game, falling 10-3 in the second matchup.
