CHICAGO, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay was the third-consecutive Horizon League team to suffer a sweep at the hands of UIC on Wednesday afternoon, falling 5-0 on the road in the final game of the series.

After a scoreless first two innings from both squads, UIC got on the board first with one run in the top of the third after a one-out double from the Flames and an error by the Phoenix defense.

The Flames added a pair in the next inning on a single up the middle with the bases loaded.

UIC added some insurance in the top of the seventh and increased its lead to five runs as the Phoenix took its final appearances at the plate.

The Flames defense held strong in the final inning, securing a 5-0 win and the series sweep.

Green Bay was held scoreless in the matchup but had multiple runners on the base pads in the first, second, fifth and seventh innings.

Green Bay amassed four hits but its production was doubled by the host Flames who tallied eight.

It's a quick turnaround for the Phoenix before its next league matchup with Youngstown State, as the two teams take the diamond in Youngstown, Ohio, on Friday for a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
