GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay athletics department had 102 student-athletes honored as members of the 2018 Horizon League Spring Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.
On the women's side, the women's swimming and diving and women's soccer tied Green Bay's athletics programs with 15 members, followed closely by women's basketball who placed 11 student-athletes on the honor roll. On the men's side, swimming and diving led the way with 12 members, while men's soccer was closely behind with 9 members.
This year women's track and field/ cross country led all sports with 137 student-athletes on the Honor Roll. Also hitting triple-digits, women's soccer honored 129 members. Women's swimming and diving tallied with 88 while men's track and field/ cross country followed closely behind with 80. Men's soccer shadowed with 76, followed by softball with 74. On the list as baseball was close behind with 67 student-athletes distinguished. Volleyball slotted 63 as men's swimming and diving garnered 62 and women's basketball placed 52. Closing out the League sponsored sports, women's tennis positioned 33, women's golf contributed 32, men's golf had 31, men's tennis featured 28 and men's basketball brought in 21.
Candidates for the Honor Roll must meet three criteria in order to qualify: 1) participation in at least one of the League's 19 sports during the most recent (or current) season; 2) completion of three semesters (or four quarters, where applicable) as a full-time student at the same member institution; and 3) a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale).
