GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Coming off a season where the program secured its first-ever Horizon League regular season championship, the men's soccer team is set to embark on a new campaign, one which opens at home in the recently constructed Kress Outdoor Recreation Complex.
The Phoenix welcomes Hartford to the pitch for the first official action, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. Green Bay was recently picked to finish second in the Horizon League's preseason poll, as last year's HL Tournament Champion UIC was named the preseason favorite.
Green Bay's exhibition season consisted of two games, a pair of contents that saw the Phoenix outscore its opposition five goals to one. The first contest was a 4-0 shutout victory over Omaha followed by a 1-1 draw with in-state rival and Big East program, Marquette.
The first 250 fans in attendance Friday night will receive commemorative mini soccer balls in acknowledgement of the new stadium.

5 – 7 p.m. – Tailgate hosted and open to the public with concessions and yard games available to fans prior to kickoff.
*5:45 p.m. — Stadium Opening Ceremony and first kick by former Phoenix Hall of Fame Coach Aldo Santaga at midfield.
7 p.m. — Men's soccer game and halftime welcome back to the 1978 men's soccer players.
9 p.m. — Brief fireworks show to recognize the opening of the Kress Outdoor Recreation Complex.
*Parking is available next to the indoor turf facility by entering off Leon Bond Drive, North of the Kress Events Center.
