FORT WORTH, Tex. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay volleyball team (1-2) fell in its last match of the TCU Cowtown Classic tournament today against UAB (2-1) in straight sets.
UAB 3, Green Bay 0
The Phoenix couldn't stay with the Dragons in the first set of the match (25-18) but were much closer to their opponents in the following two (25-22, 25-21), even pulling ahead a few times. Although they bested UAB in kills during sets two and three, the amount of errors counted against Green Bay gave the Dragons their victory.
The sophomores were the highlights of the Phoenix's efforts, leading the team offensively and defensively.
Taylor Wolf led the team in kills with 16, nearly as many as she had against SIUE the day before.
Anna Eaton came away with two valuable service aces, also leading the team defensively with one block solo and two block assists.
Ashley Sledge held the highest hitting percentage with a .625, making six of her eight total attempts.
Senior
Vanessa Buman was named to the All-Tournament team for consistently aiding the Phoenix in digs throughout all three matches.
Next Game
The Cowtown Classic is over, but Green Bay will be staying at TCU for one more day. They will be playing a nonconference match against opponents North Dakota tomorrow morning, Sunday the 26th, at 9:00 a.m. CT.
