GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay men's soccer team found itself in Macomb, Ill., taking on Western Illinois (0-2-1) for its first road action of the season. The Phoenix (2-0-1) secured a shutout victory in the contest after a pair of goals in the first half of action from
Tomer Zloczower and Bernard Assibey Rhule.
Zloczower was the first to find the back of the net in the matchup after being awarded a penalty kick in the 13th minute of play. The score was the forward's second goal of the season.
Green Bay doubled its advantage in the 30th minute when Bernard Assibey Rhule stole the ball from the from the goalkeeper and fired it into the upper right corner of the net, bringing the score to 2-0 with 15 minutes remaining in the half.
Jamison Yoder protected the Phoenix net for the second-straight game and recorded four saves in his second win of the season.
"Overall, we worked hard and played well," head coach
Jeremy Bonomo said. "We played our brand of soccer, and it didn't let us down. It was a deserving win."
The Green Bay men's soccer team will stay in Illinois for its next matchup, taking the pitch against Eastern Illinois at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
