GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay men's soccer team wrapped up its weekend in Illinois with its third-straight win and second-consecutive shutout, taking down host Eastern Illinois, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Lakeside Field after Tomer Zloczower found the back of the net on a penalty kick.

"We played well for 75 minutes, then the fatigue from two games in three days started to set in," head coach Jeremy Bonomo said. "Our guys had to grind out the win today and they did. Credit to Eastern Illinois for battling until the end. Anytime you can get six points on the weekend, it's a positive sign."
 
The Phoenix defense looked solid all afternoon en route to its second shutout of the season, limiting the Panthers to only three looks on-goal - none of which were able to get past Phoenix goalkeepers Jamison Yoder and Nikola Kahvedzic.

Green Bay remains unbeaten and moves to 3-0-1 after the victory, while the Panthers fall to 1-1-1 after their first loss of the season.

In addition to Zloczower's attempt, Bernard Assibey Rhule, Kevin Cela and Joey Bourgeouis all tallied shots for Green Bay. The four-game unbeaten streak matches Green Bay's start from a season ago, which was a 2-0-2 mark before falling to Drake. 

The last time Green Bay started the first five games of the season unbeaten was in 2009, the same year the Phoenix made its only appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Phoenix is back in action next weekend when it opens Horizon League play at Cleveland State on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m.
