GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay men's soccer is set to kick off their first Horizon League home game of the season this Saturday (9/15) against Northern Kentucky. Official start time for the game is 7pm CT at the new Aldo Santaga Stadium.
The Norse (5-1) started their Horizon League season with a double overtime loss at Wright State, followed by a 3-0 win against Evansville. Northern Kentucky leads the league in shots-on-goal and goals, thanks in part to freshman forward Alex Willis, who has scored seven goals for the Norse so far this season.
The Phoenix (4-0-1) head into the game undefeated, striving to add another win to their record. Junior forward
Tomer Zloczower and sophomore midfielder
Bernard Assibey Rhule earned their way into the top ten ranking for goals and game-winning goals. Sophomore goalie
Jamison Yoder sits at number three in the Horizon League for saves.
Saturday's game marks only the fifth time these two teams have faced each other in Horizon League play, with Green Bay leading the series 4-1 over the Norse. The game is also part of the first-annual Soctoberfest, which will kick off at 1pm CT as the Phoenix women take on Northern Kentucky. The Soctoberfest tailgate will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Aldo Santaga Stadium with live music and student giveaways.
