GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback against Purdue Fort Wayne on Tuesday evening at Aldo Santaga Stadium in a break from Horizon League play.

The Mastodons (6-3-0) scored in the 77th minute to end the tie and take the game's first lead. The Phoenix (5-3-1) was unable to find the equalizer prior to time expiring and finished without a goal for the first time this season. The last time the Phoenix offense was held scoreless in the regular season was in October 2017 when the squad fell to No. 8 Western Michigan on the road, 3-0. 

Green Bay did not lack in opportunities on Tuesday night, placing five shots on goal to PFW's three and totaled 11 shots while holding its opponent to only eight. The attack seemed to favor the Phoenix for the majority of the evening, but a foul deep in Green Bay territory allowed the Mastodons to send a free kick into the box and off the head of their leading goal scorer, Matthew Lieshout, for his eighth goal of the season.

Tomer Zloczower placed three shots on goal in the matchup and teammate Karim Lauba offered a pair, but none slipped past the Purdue Fort Wayne goalkeeper as the Phoenix fell for just the third time this season, 1-0.

It's back to Horizon League play for the Green Bay men's soccer team this weekend, as the team travels south to Milwaukee for a matchup with the Panthers with the Chancellor's Cup on the line. Kickoff at Engelmann Stadium is slated for Saturday at 7 p.m. with the game set to be streamed on ESPN+.
