Box Score GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's soccer team surrendered possession of the Chancellor's Cup to in-state rival Milwaukee after a goal from the Panthers' Sean Holmes in overtime on Saturday evening at
Engelmann Stadium.
"Another unfortunate loss but a deserving defeat," head coach
Jeremy Bonomo said. "We have to finish our scoring chances and fight until the very end. Credit to Milwaukee for getting the job done tonight."
The match was relatively even on both ends of the pitch, with the host Panthers owning a slight edge in shots at 11-7 and shots on goal, 7-3.
Tomer Zloczower led the Phoenix attack with three shots and a pair of shots on goal, while freshman
Joey Bourgeois joined in with two shots and one attempt on the MKE net.
Nikola
Kahvedzic did an excellent job protecting the Phoenix net despite the lone Panthers goal, recording six saves in the regulation and overtime periods.
The Phoenix falls to 5-4-1 overall and 2-2-0 in Horizon League play, while Milwaukee improves to 6-3-1 and 2-0-1 following the win.
Green Bay will look to bounce back next week when the team travels to Detroit Mercy for a 12 p.m. kickoff at Detroit Mercy.
