GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) ---The Green Bay volleyball team (16-6, 8-2 HL) continued its winning ways on Saturday, sweeping Oakland to win its sixth-straight match on Alumni Day at the Kress Center, winning 25-14, 25-20 and 25-15

Ashley Sledge had the hot hand on the night, tallying 13 kills on a scorching .571 hitting clip that included only one error. Sledge dominated the Golden Grizzlies (12-10, 5-5 HL) in their two matches this year, added the 13 kills today to her impressive 16-kill night at Oakland earlier this year. 

Taylor Wolf wrapped up her impressive weekend with 13 more kills herself, also adding nine digs and a match-high three aces in the victory. Sledge was also hot on the defensive side of the night, totaling a match-high five blocks. Zoi Sherolli had six kills and Shannon Coughlin chipped in with five.

The defensive efforts were balanced for the Phoenix, which improved to 9-1 at home this year. Maddie Yoss and Annelise Sparks each recorded 11 digs, with Yoss controlling the attack with 36 assists for another double-double, also adding four blocks. Brenna Hesse led all defenders with 16 dig, another impressive outing for the freshman.

The GB defensive performance was also one of record note, holding Oakland to a -.009 hitting clip, the lowest its held an opponent since Aug. 26, 2016 when it held Eastern Illinois to a -.043 percentage. GB held Oakland to only 20 kills and 21 errors.

After cruising in the first set and pulling away in the second, GB found itself trailing 14-10 in the third set going for the sweep. The Phoenix then flipped a switch, going on a 15-1 run to close things out and get the victory. 

The program also recognized numerous alumni that were attendance between the second and third sets. 

Next Game
Green Bay will hit the road for its next weekend slate, visiting Northern Kentucky (Nov. 1) and Wright State (Nov. 2) next weekend. GB returns home on Nov. 8 to host Youngstown State for Parents Night.
